7-Figure Brand: Why 'Just do it' is bad advice for scaling a fashion business

Hi Reader

Today I'll talk about how to stop starting over. Share a simple scenario planning framework to plan launches, pivot with purpose and grow a brand that builds on every move.

If you've spent any time around business coaches, you've heard it. Just do it. Stop overthinking. Stop planning. Just start.

And honestly? It works, at first. If you're frozen, action is the cure. You launch the drop, post the reel, email the stockist. You feel like a founder again.

Then something doesn't land. Sales are slow, or the wholesale buyer goes quiet, or the ads eat your margin. So you change direction. New product, new channel, new campaign. Months later, it happens again.

Let me tell you about Tara (name changed for privacy reason). When she booked a call with me, she was two years into her brand and about have her forth launch.

Her first launch was in the contemporary clothing space. Sales were slow, so she decided the product was wrong. The second time, she changed the product. Then the price. Then she thought the customer she's targeting might be wrong. Every relaunch meant new samples, new photos, fully updated website and another round of savings.

She's really talented and one of the hardest-working founders I'd met that year. But when I asked her what she'd learned from launch one that she was using in launch four:

"Not much, really," she said. "Every time, it felt like starting from scratch."

She'd done exactly what she'd been told by her coach: stop overthinking, just start and do. She just never left herself anything to build on.

That conversation is why I'm writing this today. I see the same pattern in so many founders, and the fix is simpler than another relaunch.

That feeling has nothing to do with talent or work ethic. It's a structural problem. And it has a structural fix.

Tara’s story has a happy ending, and yours can too.

In the full article below, I break down the one-page plan that stops the restart cycle: the four questions to answer before any launch, a worked examples, what to do with unsold stock, and the habit that keeps every move building on the last.

Hi Reader This week, I want to show you how to make ads pay for themselves to grow your business online. If you run an online clothing brand, you have probably felt it this year. The ads that used to bring in customers cost more and work less. Orders still come in, but growth has gone quiet, and nobody can quite explain why the old formula stopped working. This piece is for founders who want to keep their website at the heart of the business and still grow. Inside, you’ll find how the winners...

AI personal shopper

Hi Reader This week, I want to talk about a change in how people shop that will shape the fashion business for years to come. More and more shoppers no longer start with Google or Instagram. They open ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode or, as of this month, Meta's new agent Muse, and describe what they want: "a linen dress for a summer wedding, under $150." The assistant searches, compares and shortlists. Increasingly, it can also buy. The numbers are already significant. Between January and March...

Growing a Fashion Brand in 2027: What the runways just told us

Hi Reader This week was an absolute whirlwind in fashion. I am sure your feeds are already flooded with show reviews, viral runway clips, and trend breakdowns from New York and London Fashion Weeks. It is easy to get caught up in the visual spectacle, but if we peel back the layers of style, the real story of SS27 isn't about aesthetics; it is about business model shifts. As millions of consumers actively step back from traditional luxury, we are seeing a pivotal moment unfold for independent...
