7-Figure Brand: How to win customers in a cautious market

Hi Reader,

How was your week?

Today, I'll be talking about the reality of the fashion market right now: why people are buying less, what they are still willing to spend on, and what that means for growing your brand in this economy.

We all feel it. Fashion is getting harder to sell.

Consumers are becoming more selective about discretionary spending and looking harder for value, while at the same time, tariffs and rising costs are putting more pressure on margins.

So what does it take to keep growing when customers have more reasons to hesitate?

I looked at the latest results from Coach and Kate Spade to find out. Coach grew 24%, while Kate Spade declined 10%. They are both part of the same parent company, Tapestry.

But the interesting part isn't the headline numbers. It's what happened underneath them.

What did Coach do that kept customers coming? Why did Kate Spade struggle to maintain demand? And what can an independent fashion founder learn from both?

Below, I break down the market signals you should be watching right now.

And most importantly, you'll learn what you can do to tell whether your brand is actually getting stronger, and which actions can help you build more resilient growth.

I want these weekly “meetings” to be useful for you and your business, so please tell me what you think. What was helpful? What wasn’t? What are you struggling with right now? And, what would you like me to cover?

Just hit reply to this email and tell me. Or reach me directly: sa@fashionbrandadvisor.com. I read every response.

See you next Sunday,
Sofia

just do it

Hi Reader Today I'll talk about how to stop starting over. Share a simple scenario planning framework to plan launches, pivot with purpose and grow a brand that builds on every move. If you've spent any time around business coaches, you've heard it. Just do it. Stop overthinking. Stop planning. Just start. And honestly? It works, at first. If you're frozen, action is the cure. You launch the drop, post the reel, email the stockist. You feel like a founder again. Then something doesn't land....

Hi Reader This week, I want to show you how to make ads pay for themselves to grow your business online. If you run an online clothing brand, you have probably felt it this year. The ads that used to bring in customers cost more and work less. Orders still come in, but growth has gone quiet, and nobody can quite explain why the old formula stopped working. This piece is for founders who want to keep their website at the heart of the business and still grow. Inside, you’ll find how the winners...

AI personal shopper

Hi Reader This week, I want to talk about a change in how people shop that will shape the fashion business for years to come. More and more shoppers no longer start with Google or Instagram. They open ChatGPT, Google's AI Mode or, as of this month, Meta's new agent Muse, and describe what they want: "a linen dress for a summer wedding, under $150." The assistant searches, compares and shortlists. Increasingly, it can also buy. The numbers are already significant. Between January and March...
